Why we do what we do the way we do it.
There are some cases that simply change everything.
People in crisis and needing help come to attorneys for guidance and depend upon their skill and judgment to protect their best interests. That’s simple and straight-forward enough. But the law is complex and often mysterious, and the courts and judges representing our system of justice can have agendas that render fairness and justice elusive.
At Koltun & Lazar, our focus is Family and Personal Injury law, and what links the two is the human quotient; seen in the collateral damage manifested in the lives of families.
There have been many cases over the years and no shortage of opportunities to celebrate with clients their victories. Serving them is a privilege and witnessing first-hand their lives and futures made better because of them will always be rewarding and humbling.
Because in the end, our view of the law focuses on people; their lives, families, and futures.
And in every case, our mission is to reveal the truth, seeking justice and fairness.
Family Law provides an opportunity to protect the rights of people that may have nowhere to turn. We’ve handled predictable divorce cases, but also inordinately complex matters, such as mothers victimized by cruelly abusive husbands, and husbands falsely accused of vile yet unwarranted charges that seem as impossible to defend as disprove.
We’ve taken on cases other lawyers would be reluctant to touch. It was the right thing to do because the truth, fairness and justice mattered. In the end, it made victory all the sweeter.
Personal Injury Law is similarly people-centered. Lives tragically ripped asunder deserve not merely a fair hearing, but proper compensation for losses they’ll never recover from.
Here too, we didn’t shy from adversity or long odds, confronting the daunting challenges of proving liability and negligence against stiff, monolithic, well-funded defenses including the insurance industry and government entities.
Again, and against great odds we prevailed, and in large part thanks to the values guiding us, reaffirmed, time and time again, by the clients depending upon us for help.
Insurance companies may look at people and measure them per a formula only they can presume to understand.
We don’t. We see our clients as people; individuals with hopes, dreams, lives and families, each precious and deserving of justice and fairness.
Government may view people as faceless statistical parts of the whole, and be willing to settle for good enough.
We can’t. We believe our clients deserve their cases to be viewed in light of the true impact upon their lives, and only justice is good enough.
To every prospective Personal Injury of Family Law client we make a simple promise:
You’ll get our very best.
